Older Alistair Portrait

This was originally posted at the LiveJournal community swooping_is_bad, based on the very awesome fanfic A Midwinter's Thaw written by w0rdinista and pagerunner_j. In that story, Alistair abandoned everyone after Loghain became a Grey Warden. If you're familiar with that ending, you know that in the epilogue there were rumours that Alistair became a wandering drunk (the saddest of all the endings imo, I still can't bear to have that ending). The fic takes place eight years after Loghain performed the heroic sacrifice of slaying the Archdemon.

I wanted to do a version of Alistair during this time based on the fic's description of him so I aged and thinned him. A part of me wanted to alter his appearance even more to reflect his hard life during all those years, but my inner fangirl wouldn't let me do any further damage - I was already heartbroken when he turned out the way he did. Heck this is also the reason why I initially hesitated posting his portrait here - I didn't want to upset the Alistair fans - but a few people persuaded me to finally post it. (And apparently some like Ali's cheekbones in this image )
