I Love You. Goodbye. by Louvette I Love You. Goodbye. by Louvette
You are a great protector, Siha. But some things are beyond even you.

----------------------

While I respect BioWare's decision about Thane's fate - we all knew he was going to die at some point (though I personally would've preferred there was an option to save him, but whatever) - I was heartbroken over the treatment of his character in ME3. It was really obvious that the ME team forgot about him. After he died, no one else talked about him, not even Garrus who was standing in front of the memorial wall. Not only that, Garrus sent a message over the ME3 Datapad (if you've got an iPad) later on telling you "Glad we didn't have to add a name to this wall, Shepard. Thanks for coming by." WHAT. THE. FUCK. THANE JUST DIED! His name was just added to the wall! Come on BioWare, Thane was your poster boy in ME2 and you forgot all about him?! Fix this. Please. And while you're at it, fix his characterisation and dialogue when he's romanced. The Thane we see in ME3, the one who is at peace and is ready to die, makes sense if he's not romanced. But if romanced? Watch this scene again. It might jog your memory.

Sorry about the rant but Thane was such an awesome character in ME2 so to have been forgotten in ME3 is just heartbreaking. And infuriating.

Do you know about ThaneMOD? Allows you to save Thane. It can't make him an active squad member for ME3, but the mod has him send you emails to let you know how he's doing, and he shows up at the final memorial scene. Ah, so wonderful to make the choice to SAVE him!

And a beautiful image, by the way.

Thanks! Yes I know about the mod but my mass effect games are Xbox 360 games so I can't play it.

I wished they would have had Shepard do this when he died if you romanced him instead of just walking out of the room. You listed off everything I hated about Thane's death in ME. Not that it happened (though yes, an option to save would have been great), but the dismissive attitude everyone had, especially if Shepard romanced him. And now even the new DLC which is advertising rekindle romances, can't begin until after Thane dies. I definitely needed some Thane love, and you're art is satiating some of my frustrations with Bioware. It's all so very well done too. Continue on, someone needs to remember Thane.

Have you seen the Citadel DLC? Although there are still a lot of issues regarding the treatment of Thane in ME3 I thought what BioWare did in the dlc helped addressed a few of those. Made me cry too. Finally, some closure.

They do address him in the DLC? I haven't played it yet. I was a little too annoyed when I found out that it couldn't be started till after his death. If they finally address it, then I'll have to get it soon. Thanks for the info. (btw, still love your work  )

Thanks! Well *I* found some closure, but there are still some Thane fans who weren't happy at all with what BioWare did in the dlc. The thing is, if all someone wants is additional Thane content from the dlc then it might not probably be worth buying. However if, like me, you want additional content for the other characters as well then this is the one dlc worth getting in my opinion. If you're the former I suggest you just watch it on Youtube - here's a Shrios version if you're curious :XD:

The conversation with ghost Thane at the end put me over the edge. It made me wish they'd have given me a two second image of Shep or Thane on a beach after the end. Heck, I'd have been happy with just a glimpse of an empty shoreline. Still, it was hilarious to play the whole DLC and the memorial was perfect. Thanks for telling me they gave closure. :)

OMG, I agree completely! Damn, I got so pissed off, I was like: WTF IS THIS S***????
Not only the little interest they gave to him after his death, but also his scene with Shepard at the hospital.
WTH?! Such short dialogue, his personality is alterated a bit, and, GOD, wtf was that lame romance momment? Seriously, they didn't even put them in a better place or something so they could have their private momment. ):
They did it with Miranda... she conveniently invites Shep to a bedroom.... >.>
Why there's not a good work with Thane? D: What's wrong with you BW and EA?
Thane's my favorite character from the entire series... What they did to him on the 3rd game..... I have no words to describe the sadness my heart got filled with. T-T

Well.... About the picture now... It's just an amazing and breath taking masterpiece. *-*

Thanks. I'm told that the writer who wrote Thane in ME2 left before ME3 which figures because whoever wrote him in ME3 just didn't get it. Anyway I'm disappointed with ME3 generally. This is not the same company that made the games I fell in love with. EA has changed them.

Thane's treatment infuriates me and I'll always have a grudge towards Bioware unless they fix it, if they ever do. It wasn't very professional of them to handle things that way, but maybe we're too stupid to see the "awesomeness" of the whole thing.

The picture's lovely though and so sad. However that wasn't how it ended for my Thanemanced Shepard. Her story stopped after ME2 and he got a lung transplant/cured. >.>

Yes there should of been an option to save thane's life. He is probably one of the most intriguing characters of M.E.2. I replayed through m.e.2 again just to romance him. Maybe they should of created a downloadable content for m.e.3 where you get an extra mission to the homeworld of either the hanar or drell or even mordin woking on a cure for keprels syndrome (if thats how you put it) after his work on the genophage (not sure how to spell that either). Lol. I know you have to have tragedy in games, but come on isn't there enough in the entire mass effect series? See, if they just asked the public for ideas, they could get some. xx

Wow...I mean, I didn't even have the guts to fully romance Thane, but I was pretty pissed too. Fuck BioWare man. I feel like there should have been a way to save him as a romance because they hinted so strongly at it in the first game, but not only did they deny you that, they just cast him aside. I mean, I felt heartbroken after he and Mordin died and at least people talked a little about Mordin, but with Thane I was left with only the comfort of the memorial wall and later on the Renegade interrupt against Lt. Bastard Ass Leng.

To the picture though, it's so lovely and sweet...I would have wished for something like this for those who romanced him /end rant.

I agree with you completely. I mean there was another character (whose name I will avoid in case people haven't played the game yet) who could have died and there were some really good, emotional conversations about their passing after the fact. But with Thane it was like everyone just immediately forgot about him, despite how important he was to the crew and the heroic way in which he died. Really unfair treatment. A character that wonderful deserved better. :(

As for your piece. I think it's heart-breakingly beautiful. You captured the moment (as played out in my head) perfectly. Amazing work, as always.

I was thinking the same thing. In my first playthrough of ME2, I romanced Thane. After playing 3 with a different playthrough and romance, I was all, '...I'm not even going to go there with Thane. I'd be sad.' xD;
It's funny how much you can grow to actually care about these characters.

At last touch of realism: a dying Thane with his shirt off. I couldn't help wondering how on earth the doctors managed to perform major abdominal surgery on someone with their clothes still on.

I thought his death was very touching, so while I understand the grief of Thane fans, he, Mordin and Legion will forever be heroes who sacrificed their lives for the fate of the galaxy and it'S people.

Oh Thane's death was heroic, no doubt. And that his prayer was meant for Shepard was very touching. But that's all there is to it. You'd think a Shepard who romanced him will have something extra, like a last goodbye or something, but nope, nothing. And I found it really odd that no one, except for Kai Leng, talks about him.

I can't argue with that, they should definitely have done something extra for the players who romanced him.
